Races & Running Events

Many of the club members regularly take part in races throughout the year, locally, across the country, and even abroad! We use our members-only Facebook group to discuss the events we are considering - click here to see this discussion thread. You can also use the race calendar on this page, as well as the full races & events calendar page. Below are some of our favourite events:

EMGP

The East Midlands Grand Prix is a series of events that typically take place weekday evenings around, you guessed it, the East Midlands. Some of our runners take part in these. You can entire the entire series or just individual races.

DXRC

Squirrels are in the Derby Runner Cross Country League (DXRC). This is an inclusive league suitable for runners of all abilities - as an example, at a recent race some of the female runners were averaging 15:00 minute mile pace at Grace Dieu - 5ish miles. LRRL

The Leicestershire Road Running League holds races starting in spring and ending in autumn, however most races can be tricky to enter as Squirrels are not an LRRL member and typically only runners who belong to LRRL member clubs can purchase tickets initially, before entry opens to the public a week later. If you are interested in these, join the Leicester Runners Facebook group as well as the LRRL page and look out for posts advertising on-sale dates, and be prepared to snap up an entry the moment they go on sale.
